A classic Hitchcock thriller that has all the plot twists and turns you'd expect of the master, Vertigo centres on a San Fransisco cop (James Stewart) hired to keep an eye on a suicidal woman (Kim Novak). Having saved her from an unsuccessful suicide, he becomes more and more obsessed with the beautiful woman. Featuring many classic Hitchcock moments, including the unforgettable opening scene of a thrilling chase across San Fransisco rooftops. Must see classic.

The storyline of Vertigo is what makes this such a great movie to watch and own. It takes you on a few different twists and leaves you quite well entertained. For the exception of being a little too long and drawn out, the puzzle comes together well and keep you on the edge of your seat. I liked the duel ending, that shows what was supposed to happen, but how obsession leads to that really happening. This is another movie one must own in their library.

Delerious masterwork that chronicles an impossible tale of love, guilt, fear of heights and an obession. Ex-cop Scotty has a morbid fear of heights. He is given the job of watching a woman possibly possessed by her dead ancestor. But she dies - falling from a great height. He cracks up and then walking down the street he sees someone who looks like her. There is nothing quite like Vertigo with its lush imagery and luridly bizarre plot. Irresistable.

hmm well this is considered to be hitchcocks masterpiece and although i can see why i have to say that i prefer the rope to this. yes its great dont get me wrong its fantastic, but the problem i have with it is its constant repitition of images and angles to give the idea of obsession when its already blatantly clear after the first half an hour what is happening. the twist for me is what makes this movie his masterpiece as its overall bleak and final destruction of its characters is refreshing to see, when today most things seem to be tidied up more.

John "Scottie" Ferguson is a retired San Francisco police detective who suffers from acrophobia and Madeleine is the lady who leads him to high places. A wealthy shipbuilder who is an acquaintance from college days approaches Scottie and asks him to follow his beautiful wife, Madeleine. He fears she is going insane, maybe even contemplating suicide, because she believes she is possessed by a dead ancestor. Scottie is skeptical, but agrees after he sees the beautiful Madeleine.
